Beware of Mr Man

He stands cool, calm and collected
He stands with purpose
He looks around checking for one who will fall for his charm
He looks around knowing that he’s taking somebody’s daughter home tonight
He knows this because he’s got the game

He stands cool, calm and collected
He makes a signal and she acknowledges it
He acknowledges her and she is filled with expectation seeing the gentleman that he is
He knows he’s got her now for she’s given him all the tell tales that he knows all too well
He knows this because he is the game

Don’t blame me now, blame the game
That’s what he says when he is quizzed
Don’t hate me now, hate the game
That’s what everybody says, though they know not what the game is
But what is the game without the players?
What is the game without participants?
I wonder…

So Mr Man has got the girl
In his place he prepares to thrill
He makes his way with her to bed
She thinks to herself I’ve got the man
But does she know what she’s going to get?

So Mr Man has got the skills
In the sack he has no regard
He makes her call the name above
She thinks to herself this is for life
But does she know it’s really not?

So Mr Man is done with the girl
In his mind he’s done his bit
He takes her home with a kiss goodbye
She thinks she’ll see her man again
But soon finds out she’s going to die

Another…
You find him chilling in his car
He hangs around where they are young, innocent, gullible and vulnerable
He knows what they want and he provides for them
They soon fall for him and he’s got them hooked

You find him chilling in his car
He wears shades so you don’t see into his soul
He dresses nicely with brand names to entice
He smells good so they flock to him

You find him chilling in his car
Now that he’s got her hotels are what she knows
Now that he’s got her shopping sprees are what she knows
She loves the way he makes her feel

Soon she finds out she’s not the only one
Soon she finds out her friends share that tale
Soon she finds out he’s somebody’s husband
Soon she finds out his wife is on her death bed
Soon she wonders how could I have been so foolish
But she wonders a tad too late

Yet another…
He likes them married or committed to their men
He likes the freedom of enjoying the thrill without upkeep
He likes to keep in shape so they find him irresistible
He likes pleasing as long as it is unknown
Should it be known someone would die

But little is known that his body is riddled with sicknesses
Diseases run amok throughout his gorgeous self
For her it’s either a one-time thing
Or just him the dish on the side
Now she starts to feel a little sick

She consults a doctor for just the flu
It is persistent and she knows not why
The doctor checks just in case
She finds out and her world is crushed
How can she tell her faithful husband, he too has probably got it now…

Beware of Mr Man
Fear Mr Man
Shun Mr Man
For Mr Man will bring the grave close to you

This may have been just a poem
But someone has already died
From taking this as just another one of those
And fell for the charm of Mr Man

Mr. Man is a reality for sure. I’ll def me sending this to my younger girl cousins. As we grow into womanhood though, the real danger is the not-so-obvious Mr Man. The one who is full of good intentions but no follow through. Way more subtle. I’d love to see you pen something about him? (:

Another brilliant poem though – emotive and raw. You, Sir, are gifted.
    Bravo.

    Pretty raw… terrifying….

Well I stand to be corrected. Reread and realised its not all a bad piece afterall. Truthful and apart of our reality I suppose.

  6. Nthabi says:

    Powerful and TRUE!
